When I tell ya'll that this had me in a chokehold, I'm not kidding. I managed to finish this in 3 days which is a feat in its own especially with 3 kids running around. This book has the perfect amount of smut mixed with a storyline that keeps you interested. I was sucked in from the beginning and found myself picking my jaw up off the floor repeatedly. This is NOT a book for those that are shy or "vanilla" if you get my drift. There are a multitude of trigger warnings but if you are willing to go outside your comfort zone, I will always suggest this book.
This story follows Ryat Asher who is part of a secret society (which I feel like it wasn't that secret considering everyone at school knew about it but they just didn't know the inner workings of it) called the Lords. They have to go through 3 years of abstinence and many challenges to prove that they are worthy of them. Failures or betrayl of the rules equals death. The female main character is Blakely who is an innocent-ish who is dating a manchild named Matt who is also part of the Lords society. Long story short, he is a narcissictic asshole. Well, Ryat is given the task to take Blakely as his chosen one which means she belongs to him to do what he wants with but she has to do it willingly. Ryat being a man of "charm" gets her to willingly choose to be his. Then starts all of the smut which I will not go into because I don't want to make this a XXX rated post. All I will say is my husband definitely was a fan of this book and Blakely is a FREAK considering she is a virgin. Okay back to the story. Throughout the book, Matt is trying to cause a riff with Ryat and Blakely which he does continue to cause her doubt but Ryat keeps pulling her back in. Matt and Ryat do not like eachother because Matt caused a huge issue with a job they had a couple years prior. Blakely ends up running away and is attacked by a man who is then killed by Ryat (because of course he found her) which come to find out, Matt sent the man to kill her to get back at Ryat. The rest of the book follows Ryat protecting Blakely and killing those who try to cause her harm. They do end up getting married and falling in love which pisses Matt off even more. Towards the last 25% of the book, it gets INSANE. Matt ends up shooting Ryat and killing him and kidnaps Blakely afterwards. He tries to kill her (despite her being pregnant) but Ryat IS NOT DEAD and comes to the rescue. I don't want to give away the rest of the surprises that happen but there are plot twists that had me shooketh. The book does end with a happy ending of Ryat and Blakely having 3 kids who are going into college soon.
I know the description above was all over the place but this book has over 600 pages of things that happen and I don't think I could share everything otherwise we would be here for hours. This was a 5 star read and I am so excited to put this book on my shelf soon. I downloaded the next book in the series so look out for that soon!
